Kurt English scored 31 points to lead the Patriots Basketball Club past the Knights Basketball Club when the two teams met in the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association League last weekend at the Burnham Hard Courts.
Patriots out rebounded the Knights 46 to 29 to limit the Knights from second chance opportunities while English on the offensive side connected on nine of 18 shots for the Patriots.
Ashton Adams was also a main contributor to the win as he grabbed 17 rebounds to lead the charge in that area, with ten being on the offensive end of the court.
Jason Cort and Hugh Arthur scored 14 and 13 points respectively for the Knights in the hard fought game.
Ravens Basketball Club then had a blowout victory against Wind Jammers Basketball Club that ended 97-14.
Akeem ‘The Dream’ Khanhai had a triple double for Ravens scoring 13 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists in the decisive win.
Tyrone Hamid also played well for the Ravens with contributions of 17 points and five rebounds while Ryan Gullen had 16 points as well.
It was just an all-round bad performance by the Jammers as they attempted no free throws with Caleb Morrison putting up 10 of the 14 points scored by the team.
Meanwhile the Guardians Basketball Club shot the ball well at 51% to overcome the Bolts Basketball Club with a 82-65 win.
Guardian players Enoch Matthews and Marlon Chesney stepped up and scored 17 points each to close out the game and pick up the win. Severn Austin contributed 25 points for Bolts in the defeat.
Pacesetters Basketball Club also had a good game, prevailing over Panthers Basketball Club which ended 80-66 in a defensive show by both teams.
Pacesetters had 23 steals while Panthers had 16 as Travis Burnett led the charge for Pacesetters with 14 points, six assists and five steals. Naylon Lounke also displayed quick hands with four steals of his own while scoring 15 points to help pull off the win.
Meanwhile Kerwin Blades was outstanding for the Panthers, dropping 25 points, seven rebounds, six assists and five steals in the loss.
Pacesetters also held a distinct advantage from beyond the arc connecting on 38 percent of their attempts while the Panthers only hit five percent of their shots from the arc.
