After a pulsating opening match last weekend the Scotia Bank-Pepsi Schools football tournament will continue today with two matches at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground.
The action starts at 09:30 with the first girls’ match of the tournament featuring Lodge Secondary against Central High while at 11:00 hours, debutants St. Stanislaus College will come up against East Ruimveldt Secondary in a boys encounter.
Eleven schools are competing in the boys division with Tucville Secondary, Charlestown Secondary, New Campbellville Secondary , Queen’s College and St. George’s Secondary competing in Group ‘A’ while group ‘B’ will comprises East Ruimveldt Secondary, North Georgetown, Central High, St. Stanislaus College, Lodge Secondary and Christ Church.
Eight schools are competing in the girls group with Tucville, East Ruimveldt, Tutorial High and St. Stanislaus in Group ‘A’ while defending champions North Georgetown, Lodge, New Campbellville and Central High are in Group ‘B’.
In last weekend’s lone game that was played following the opening ceremony, new-comers Campbellville Secondary held defending boys champions Tucville Secondary to a 1-1 draw.
Tournament Coordinator Lawrence “Sparrow” Griffith disclosed that matches will be played throughout the schools Easter holidays to complete the tournament is a timely manner.
