Well-known Guyanese designer Sonia Noel continued the year-long celebration of her 15th year in fashion with the launch yesterday of her new line ‘Fusion’ on the ‘Guyana Today’ TV show on NCN.
According to Sonia, the new collection features a mixture of different styles for a cross section of persons with different body types who all want elegant looks and a sense of timeless style.
“Fusion features ponchos that can be easily accessorised with a leggings and belt; iron-free resort dresses that are ready to wear right out of a suitcase; casual eye catching outfits for a simple lunch or day trip; and elegant dresses perfect for that classy party,” she said in a release.
And she has not left the men out. ‘Fusion’ also offers shirts, shorts and slacks. She noted that at Guyana Fashion Weekend 2010, she had launched ‘C-Line’ which featured more conservative clothing suited for church and pointed out that the ‘Fusion’ line also contains facets of the C-Line expression.
Meanwhile, Sonia’s Mariska’s Designs will host a week-long ‘Fashion Fiesta’ from today until Saturday March 24 at its 176 Barr Street, Kitty location. The Fashion Fiesta promises wardrobe tips, great prices and lucky customers can walk away with outfits for as low as $2,000. Exotic designer hats will be available for kids and adults for Easter.
Customers are also advised to secure a Mariska’s Designs Member’s Card which will offer special benefits to cardholders such as instant discounts and previews to all future collections. Sonia Noel Designs also has a Facebook page, which has the latest news on her projects and information on new collections and photo-shoots. The store will also offer a rental service allowing persons to select an outfit from the rental section, pay a fee and then return the outfit on the agreed date. It also offers a very efficient sewing service.
Sonia also reminded that the Guyana Model Search/Designers’ Portfolio Show is next on the agenda and promises that “it will be the best season yet” as some major partners have already started coming on board to support the venture. Sonia took the opportunity to extend thanks to her supporters over the years.
