Keith Burrowes remains Chairman of the Implemen-tation Committee of the Mayor and City Council to put into operation the recommendations that the Commis-sion of Inquiry made into the operations of the municipality.
This is contrary to what this newspaper reported on March 15, 2012.
Speaking with this newspaper, Burrowes said that while Ramon Gaskin had been appointed as a member of the committee, he was its chairman and Gaskin reports to him.
Burrowes will streamline the interventions and recommendations of the Burrowes Report with regard to effecting the functions and efficiency of the Georgetown municipality for the delivery of services to city residents.
Minister within the Ministry of Local Govern-ment and Regional Develop-ment Norman Whittaker recently confirmed that Gaskin will head up a small committee, separate and apart from the Implementation Committee, to accelerate the pace of the implementation of the recommendations of the Burrowes Report for City Hall.
The minister said the pace of the implementation of the recommendations was sluggish since most of the committee members were not working full time with the ministry and were providing pro-bono service.
He also said that the committee has not been receiving the kind of cooperation from City Hall necessary to achieve the desired results.
Gaskinโs committee has met the Mayor, the Deputy Mayor, Town Clerk and Treasurer of the municipality and they all have endorsed this move by the ministry.
