Wendell Joseph who was accused yesterday of unlawfully assaulting his niece, causing her actual bodily harm was granted bail in the sum of $15,000 by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
Police Prosecutor Jairam Luckhai said that the Virtual Complainant Festann Thomas and the defendant are related and on December 25, 2011 at Lot 447 East Ruimveldt Housing Scheme at around 13:30 hours they had a misunderstanding about a kerosene bottle. Joseph got annoyed and dealt Thomas a slap and a punch to her face causing her actual bodily harm and she had to be hospitalized.
Luckhai did not object to bail and Joseph has to appear again in court on April 16 for report and fixture.
