The Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) said yesterday that it is not aware of a company called REE International doing business in Guyana with respect to mining or mineral properties.
The GGMC in a media release yesterday was responding to what it said were articles appearing on a website (BUSINESSGUYANA http://2012/03ree-int%E2%80%991-acquires-us10m-rare-earth-property-in-guyana/) and published in the March 22 edition of Kaieteur News that REE International, a US-based mineral exploration company, is claiming that it has acquired a rare earth property in Guyana which covers 44 square miles with over 200 concessions.
It was also stated in the article, the release noted, that REE International has obtained approval from the GGMC to conduct business in Guyana.
However, REE International has not contacted nor informed the GGMC of any joint venture or any Letter of Intent/Agreement with any mining company or mineral tenure in Guyana, the release concluded
