The man who is implicated in the recent abduction and physical assault of a ten-year-old girl remains on the run, while the police investigation continues.
The child was hospitalised after she was beaten during an apparent attempt to rape her by a man she knows. She was subsequently left in an unconscious state in a clump of bushes in Sophia on March 16.
A source told this newspaper that the child continues to say that she was struck about the body and face during resistance and is now revealing more details. The girl, who attends an East Coast Demerara school, was found creeping out of the bushes and groaning.
This newspaper was told that the traumatised child is doing much better. She has since disclosed that the man lives in her community.
Officials of the Child Care and Protection Agency (CCPA) are also investigating the matter.
