(Barbados Nation) Give REDjet the money it needs and let “the poor man’s airline” fly again!
That’s the plea from Government MP Hamilton Lashley to the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) administration and other regional governments as the Barbadian-based airline remained grounded for a tenth day.
His comments came as Prime Minister Freundel Stuart made it clear that even though he was prepared to hold talks with REDjet’s owners, he could not promise any financial assistance.
“I would tell the PM to put some money in and let REDjet fly, but not only Prime Minister Stuart, all the other prime ministers – Kamla [Persad-Bissessar], [Dr Ralph] Gonsalves, Baldwin Spencer. Invest in the poor man’s airline and let it fly,” Lashley said in an interview with the DAILY NATION. Lashley said it was “socially and morally right” to give the airline the much needed financial injection.
