Colin Jones and four other men accused in the 2009 Supreme Court arson matter were today committed to stand trial in the High Court by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
Jones together with alleged accomplices Randy Mars, Basil Morgan, Anthony Watson and Jahfar Simpson were jointly charged with the offence which occurred in November 2009.
When the matter was called yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court the acting chief magistrate noted that witnesses had been brought and examined in the presence of the accused.
She then informed the five accused that a prima facie case had been made out against them. They were committed to the High Court to stand trial at the next criminal assizes of the Supreme Court in April.
The men upheld their right to remain silent.
The men in November 2009 reportedly went on what was then referred to as a “terror rampage”. During this attack, fire was set to the Ministry of Health and rounds discharged at the Brickdam Police Station.
