(Barbados Nation) ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – LIAT says it is not changing its fares following the suspension of REDjet’s flights.
This was confirmed today by Corporate Communications Manager Desmond Brown who said the recent development has raised concerns in some sectors that this could lead to an escalation in air fares for regional travel.
“LIAT wises to inform its customers and the general travelling public that it has no intention of seeking to take advantage of the suspension of services by REDjet to alter its fares in a manner that would result in any unnecessary increase in ticket prices,” stated the release.
He pointed out that since the suspension of flights by REDjet, there has been no increase in the fares offered by LIAT.
“In fact, to the contrary, LIAT has intensified its campaign to provide discounted seats for regional travel beginning with a series of special fares offered to distressed REDjet passengers,” Brown said.
Brown said LIAT was very conscious of its central role in air transportation in the region and continues to do all possible within its constraints to provide the public with affordable fares.
