A teacher who was charged with the offence of fraudulent misappropriation appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Aluko Jarvis, 36, of 16 Charles Street, Charlestown, pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.
It is alleged that on November 25, 2011 at King Street and Manget Place he collected from Lecretia Pryce $20,000 to pay for her Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Exams (CAPE) scheduled for May this year. Instead he allegedly converted the money to his own use and purpose. The accused, however, paid back the woman her money in court.
The magistrate then asked the woman if she wished to give evidence against the defendant and she responded in the negative. The matter was then dismissed for want of evidence.
