BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Former Barbados captain Ryan Hinds has been released on bail after appearing in court here Monday to face charges of rape.
The 31-year-old, who was dropped from the Barbados side recently following a poor run of form in the Regional First Class Championship, has been accused of committing the crime against a 28-year-old woman last month.
Appearing before Magistrate Laurie-Ann Smith-Bovell in the District “B” Magistrate’s Court, Hinds was granted $7 500 bail with a surety. He will return to court on July 5.
He was also ordered to surrender his passport and report to the Holetown Police Station once weekly.
This is Hinds’s second brush with the law after he appeared in court last August on a number of charges, including assault. These were eventually dropped.
Hinds has played 15 Tests and 14 One-Day Internationals but has not played for West Indies in nearly three years.
