Work Force of the Desmond Vibert Stable won the feature event on Sunday at the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports Facilities (RCMTC&SF) in collaboration with the Ituni and Phoenix Lodges annual one day horse race meet.
The six race meet, held in aid of charity at the club’s track at Alness, Corentyne Berbice, saw Work Force carting off the feature E class 1400M event for its fifth win.
The win was worth $250,000 and a trophy donated by Banks DIH Limited.
Bridle Stone Corner of the Crawford stable was second with Face the Music and Miracle Run third and fourth respectively.
Northern Dancer of the Ashraf Ali Racing Stable of Upper Corentyne, ridden by Jamaican jockey Andron Findley, gained its first win in its third start, triumphing in the G class 1100M event.
The win earned Northern Dancer $180,000 and the Eureka Lab trophy.
Face the Music, Bridal Stone Corner and Stormy Deal, occupied the next three places.
The H & Lower 1400M event was won by Savion running out of the Crawford Stables.
Ridden by jockey Winston Appadu, Savion stormed to victory ahead of Funny Sided, Sun Razor and De Gump.
The win was worth $140,000 and the Eureka Lab trophy.
The I2 and lower 1300M race Apostle of the Jeenarine Stable, ridden by Nascimento, winning from Mona Lisa of the Crawford stable to cart off the $110,000 top money and trophy compliments of Delmur Company Limited and the Phoenix and Ituni Lodges.
Sun Razor and Silver Kid rounded out the money.
The P&P Syndicate and RCMTC-sponsored 1400M I3 and J and K event, saw jockey Prem Chandra aboard Black Water of the Dinanauth Stable winning from It’s My Time, Speed Vision and Mc Gyver. The win was worth $100,000 and the Doodnauth Persaud trophy.
Mc Gyver of the Vibert Garret stables and ridden by Jockey Desmond won the L class 1300M event compliments of Dequan Trading and Shipping company and the Martin Singh Trophy from Princess Bayaya Lady secret and Windy Killer.
Veteran jockey Desmond was adjudged the top rider of the day and the Marcel Crawford stable the top stable on show.
All proceeds of the race meet will go strictly towards charity. Approximately 60 horses took part in the day’s proceedings.
