A woman and her young male neighbour were placed on $15,000 and $12,000 bail respectively when they appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday to answer charges of unlawful wounding, common assault and malicious damage to property.
The parties were also placed on a six-month bond to keep the peace.
Roxanne Gentle, 35, of 62 Princes Street, Lodge pleaded not guilty to the offence of unlawful wounding, causing bodily harm to Andrew Oxford. Meanwhile, her neighbour Oxford, 18, of the same address, was charged with assaulting Gentle and maliciously damaging her property. Oxford pleaded not guilty to the first offence but guilty to the other charge.
It is alleged that Gentle, a mother of five, came home and saw an electrical wire connected to her mainline, which leads to Oxford’s home. The woman then removed the wire and was confronted by Oxford for doing so.
An argument ensued between the parties and Oxford reportedly pushed the woman causing her jersey valued $2,500 to be torn. He was later arrested and charged.
Gentle on the other hand was charged for wounding Oxford on the same day. Oxford, whose left hand was in a bandage, told the court that the woman chopped him because she claimed he left the electric bulb on which she provided to him at nights.
Both accused are expected to return to court on April 18.
