A Guyana-born US citizen who was previously placed on a one-year bond after being charged for assaulting his wife appeared in court on Friday before Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo in New Amsterdam accused of the murder of his wife who bore him two children.
At the preliminary hearing at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court on Friday, Ramdhanie Persaud, called Prack, was not required to plead to the capital offence which alleged that on March 30 at 1071 New Area, East Canje he murdered Bibi Shamena Deen, called Sharmila.
The accused turned himself in to police at the Central Police Station, New Amsterdam on Wednesday accompanied by his lawyer, Attorney-at-Law Mursaleine Bacchus.
Persaud had fled the home on March 20 following the discovery of the bloodied Deen.
The magistrate remanded him to prison and transferred the matter to the Reliance Magistrate’s Court where the accused has to appear on May 9.
