Dear Editor,
I am not a lawyer and as such would not publically comment on the legal decision given by the acting Chief Justice in the alleged rape case of Commissioner Henry Greene. I am however certain that it has provoked so much interest that we have not heard the last of it.
Yesterday’s SN (front page and p3) comments from Minister Manickchand seem to inject a breath of fresh air into the media dialogue as she expressed what I would consider fair comment from a layman’s perspective.
She has demonstrated courage for her stance, especially for the Commissioner to go and I trust that it will leave the door open for similar dialogue from ministers on matters which they have been either personally responsible for instituting (the Sexual Offenders Act) or other pertinent issues.
Yours faithfully,
