Two matches will be played on Saturday as the Scotiabank/Pepsi School Football Academy resumes at a new venue following last weekend’s cancellation of matches.
The new venue identified is the Ministry of Education Sports Complex ground on Carifesta Avenue. East Ruimveldt Secondary will square off with St. Stanislaus College in a girls match while St. George’s Secondary will come against Campbellville Secondary.
Kick off for the first game will be 09:30 hours. Tournament Coordinator Lawrence “Sparrow” Griffith said that the organizing committee was forced to cancel last weekend’s matches due to unforeseen circumstances in relations to the GFC ground.
“After attempts to acquire some other grounds we are happy to announce that the Ministry of Education has consented to our request to use their ground,” he added.
It was disclosed that there was inappropriate branding at the GFC ground which forced the organizers to use another venue.
The tournament was launched a few weeks ago at GFC ground, but sources say that there were concerns from the sponsors about the branding at the venue.
Matches will also be played next Tuesday to compensate for last weekend’s postponement. Griffith disclosed that three games will be played with the first starting at 09:15 hours.
Lodge Secondary will do battle with Cambellville Secondary in the girls game in the curtain raiser. The second match will bring together Central High against North Georgetown at 10:30 hours in a boys match while Tucville Secondary will test their skills against Charlestown Secondary.
Twelve schools are taking part in the second annual tournament which is expected to be completed before the end of the new school term.
