The country’s top cyclists will return to the West Demerara roadways on Sunday when national cycling coach Hassan Mohamed and Banks DIH Limited team up to pedal off the Powerade 50-mile road race.
Starting at 9:00am, the cyclists will commence the race in front of the Wales Police Station; proceed to Bushy Park, Parika, before returning to the western end of the Demerara Harbour Bridge for the finish.
The Veterans, Upright and Female riders will turn back at Uitvlugt Community Centre on the upward journey.
The first six finishers in the senior category, the top three juniors, veterans and upright cyclists will all receive prizes while the two leading females and first Over-60 rider to cross the line will also be rewarded.
Mortimer Stewart, Outdoor Events Manager of Banks DIH Limited will distribute the prizes to the respective winners on behalf of the company which is the sole distributor of Powerade energy drink.
