According to a release, the film is notable for the brilliant acting of Jamie Bell, who played the title role of a little boy who loved to dance.

It tells a hilarious and heart-wrenching story in its poignancy as the details of Billy’s life and ambitions unfold.

It is a story about a young boy (Billy) growing up in the north-east of England with his grandmother, father and brother. He was sent to learn boxing, but was drawn to the ballet classes nearby, which was kept a secret from his father and brother. Upon discovery of Billy’s passion for dancing, his father and brother responded in scorn and rage.
