Banks DIH Ltd has begun the renovation of a small building just north of its Campsite branch, where a new Quik-Serv outlet will service patrons of that branch after it would have closed down.
The Demico Campsite restaurant at 231- 232 Camp Street and South Road Lacytown, Georgetown is to be demolished to make way for a brand new Citizens Bank building. Banks DIH is currently advertising invitations for skilled contractors to apply to be part of the demolition team.
Patrons continue to display mixed emotions towards the demolition of what has, over the years, become a landmark. When this newspaper visited the site last week, persons said that they were not upset at the moving of the establishment but their frustration is derived from the fact that the new location is a significantly smaller building.
Apart from that, this newspaper was also informed that all the items currently being offered at Campsite will not go with the move.
One official disclosed that the outlet will not offer food, but will focus on pastries and other famous Banks products.
The move is expected to occur as soon as the new location is completed.
