(de Ware Tijd) PARAMARIBO – President Desi Bouterse has emphatically advised against a pro-amnesty march which an NDP group wanted to hold today. The march by the Bouterse supporters would take place simultaneously with the silent march by the Committee for Preservation of the Democratic Constitutional State which protests recent violations of the constitutional state. The NDP group grudgingly accepted Bouterse advice, since he is also chairman of the party. In the meantime, a number of organizations have agreed to participate in the march. Their ranks have swollen to 22 organizations so far, including trade unions of Staatsolie, Hakrinbank, Torarica, Royal Bank of Canada, Varossieau and De West. The organizations cite their Constitutional right for the protest.
