ST JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – Teenaged all-rounder Amanda Samaroo has been recalled after a near three-year break while another teenager, Natasha McLean, has named for the first time in a West Indies 14-member squad to face Sri Lanka in a limited overs series here starting later this month.
Samaroo, a 19-year-old right-handed batsman and right-arm seamer, last played for West Indies in the third and final Twenty20 International against England in Basseterre back in November, 2009.
She will be joined by 17-year-old McLean, a right-handed wicketkeeper/batsman who hails from Jamaica.
Meanwhile, regular first team players Britney Cooper, Kycia Knight and Shaquana Quintyne will miss the series for various reasons.
Batsman Cooper has an injured finger while wicketkeeper/batsman Knight and leg-spinner Quintyne are unavailable due to exams in Barbados.
West Indies will play three One-Day Internationals and five Twenty20 Internationals in the series set to run from April 25 to May 9.
The ODI series and the first two T20s will be played in Barbados with the remaining matches scheduled for Trinidad.
The side will be led by regular skipper Merissa Aguilleira.
