(Barbados Nation) Following four major industrial fires in the last five years, the Barbados Manufacturers Association (BMA) will launch a forensic audit of more than 70 industrial companies across the country.
The aim is to make sure that every manufacturing entity in Barbados conforms to international fire safety standards, is properly insured, and has trained staff to identify trouble signs such as strange chemical odours or faulty electrical wiring.
Executive director of the BMA, Bobbi McKay, explained that they expect to start the audit next month.
During an exclusive interview with the WEEKEND NATION, McKay said that her association was extremely concerned about the high number of industrial fires in Barbados, which severely affected, small as well as big businesses.
