Dear Editor,
Today Guyana is becoming a lawless country. Look at the cars with heavy music sets; look at the noise they are making. When the drivers and their friends drink at some of the shops in the countryside they upset the whole area at night. It‘s worse when this noise wakes you from your sleep; the minibuses never had sets like these.
If thieves came into the area in a car with a music set, they could rob people and escape – no one would know the difference.
They used to put people‘s names and those of businessplaces which play loud music that disturbs people in the newspapers.
I see someone put a church‘s name also in the paper.
But now the noise is worse than it used to be; the people who have the music sets say if the police can’t stop the cars they can’t stop them from playing their music.
The new laws about noise have no effect.
Yours faithfully,
Rudolph Singh
