A solid all round performance from the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) team propelled them to a seven-wicket victory over Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) ladies.
GCC dismissed the GCA ladies for 50 in 29 overs as Raymond Perez, Ryan Singh, Tariq Dharamlall and Nicholas Nandan all took two wickets. GCC in reply reached their score in 12.5 overs despite losing three early wickets.
Queen’s College played to their second draw, this time against the DCC ‘A’ side to follow-up their draw against Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ‘B’. Batting first Demerara Cricket Club’s ‘A’ side scored 7 for 203 in 55 overs with young Keanu Henry scoring 79, as extras was the only other significant contributor with 45. Javadev Mana and Shrikanta Deoroop each took two wickets for QC, who clawed their way to 9 for 79 in 45 overs to secure a desperate draw and deny Deron Crandon (4 for 9 from 10 overs) a second five-wicket haul in the competition.
Gandhi Youth Organization (GYO) pulled off a close victory over Bel Air Texaco by eight runs. GYO were all out for 173 in 54.1 overs as extras made the top score of 56, followed by Andrew Clifford (33) and Bhaskar Yadram (24).
Bel Air Texaco’s Akshay Rampersaud, Ganesh Balkaran and Arvinda Boodhoo each took two wickets. Bel Air’s chase was aided by 47 extras; and 31 and 30 from Paramanand Seecharran and Shane Madhoo respectively as Navendra Seeraj took 3 for 30 for the winning team.
Transport Sports Club (TSC) defeated Everest by 1 wicket by successfully chasing 140, despite losing 9 wickets in the process. Joshua Ram led the chase with 40, supported by 31 from Ewert Samuels. Hardat Singh, Davindra Mohabir and Joshua Roopchand each took two wickets for Everest, whose 140 was boosted by 47 extras as Reon Sumair of TSC took 3 for 24 from 8 overs.
St. Stanislaus College registered their first victory to ensure Malteenoes remained winless after five rounds of cricket. Seven Malteenoes batsmen failed to score as they were bowled out for 71, including 29 extras and 21 from the only batsman to reach double figures, Dale DeMendonca. Captain Travis Belgrave grabbed 4 for 10 for ‘Saints’, who achieved victory in the 9th over for the loss of three wickets as openers Belgrave (25) and Michael Douglas (32*) did the bulk of the scoring.
