Two staffers of the Parliament Office will spend two weeks in the United Kingdom undergoing training in parliamentary democracy, under the joint sponsorship of the British Government and the Government of Guyana, Speaker of the National Assembly Raphael Trotman announced on Thursday.
“The Parliament of the United Kingdom through the good offices of the British High Commission Georgetown has granted the National Assembly two spaces on an upcoming programme on Parliamentary democracy for attached clerks and senior officers,” Trotman said.
Hermina Gilgeous, Assistant Clerk and Pamela Binda, Senior Editor of the Hansard Division were identified as the participants.
“I believe that it is worthy to note that British Government is fully funding the participation of one candidate coming from this Assembly and so I shall take the opportunity to thank both Her Majesty’s Government and our own Government of Guyana for collaborating to realise the vision of a highly trained and motivated parliamentary staff,” Trotman said.
The programme is being conducted from April 23 to May 3, 2012.
