(Barbados Nation) It’s time for the rest of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to claim the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) as the final vehicle for appellate justice in the region, Attorney General, Adriel Brathwaite suggested today.
And president of the CCJ, Sir Dennis Byron truly believes that day will come soon.
“I’m very optimistic about everything concerning the CCJ. I’m anxious that things will be straightened out very soon but for sure we have already started to strengthen the CARICOM region as a single market and economy. We are addressing a number of key issues that impact upon the development of the CSME,” he told the DAILY NATION in an exclusive interview moments after the CCJ held an official ceremony to celebrate it’s first sitting in Barbados.
In a very brief welcoming address, Chief Justice Marston Gibson also endorsed the role which the CCJ has to play.
