CHENNAI, India, CMC – West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo displayed a calm head as he helped guide Chennai Super Kings to a last-ball win over Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League yesterday.
With eight runs required from the last over at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Bravo and captain MS Dhoni coolly went about gathering ones and twos, with the Indian batsman getting a couple of the last ball to seal the seven-wicket win.
Bravo finished on 16 not out off 10 balls while Dhoni got 15, in an unbroken fourth wicket stand of 30 that carried the hosts to 147 for three, overhauling the Royals’ 146 for four.
South African opener Faf du Plessis paved the way for Chennai’s victory with a 52-ball 73, his second successive half-century.
However, he and Suresh Raina (26) fell in the space of three balls in the 17th over, leaving Bravo and Dhoni to steer Chennai home.
Trinidadian seamer Kevon Cooper turned in yet another solid performance with the ball, snaring two for 23 from four thrifty overs for the Royals.
