The crème de la crème of Guyana’s cyclists will be on show today when Ansa Mc AL Trading under its Tropical Rhythms brand stages a 60-mile cycle road race.
The race which is in its second year will pedal off at 8:00hrs starting from the company’s Head Office at Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara, proceed to Mahaicony through the Old Road and return via the New Road to finish at the point of origin.
The veterans and mountain bike riders will cover a shorter distance as they will proceed to Mahaica via the Old Road and return to the start point through the New Road.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the first six seniors and top three in the juniors, veterans and mountain bike categories.
Warren ‘40’ McKay won last year’s senior race ahead of Alonzo Greaves, Eric Sankar, Walter Grant-Stuart, Darren Allen and Ian Jackson respectively.
Paul DeNobrega and Kennard Lovell were the champions in the juniors and veterans categories. Representatives of Ansa Mc AL Trading will distribute prizes when the event is completed.
