A police Lance Corporal is under close arrest for allegedly sodomising a boy, acting Commissioner of Police Leroy Brumell yesterday confirmed.
Brumell told Stabroek News that the police officer -who is stationed at an East Coast police station, was placed under close arrest on Saturday afternoon and an investigation has been launched.
“It is being alleged that he had sexual interaction with the child and we are investigating. The child has been taken for a medical and we are awaiting the results,” Brumell said.
Reports are that the child was found locked in the rank’s home by police ranks who had received a report that the child was in the home overnight. The child has since alleged that the rank sodomised him twice while he was in the home. The Lance Corporal was not at home at the time when the child was removed by the police.
Brumell declined to comment further on the matter and would only say that the police are investigating,
