(Trinidad Express) Following are the nine charges brought against Caribbean Communications Network (CCN) Ltd by ASP Ajith Persad of the Port of Spain Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over the airing of a rape video on the Crime Watch programme for which host Ian Alleyne has also been charged.
CCN is to appear at the Port of Spain First Magistrates’ Court on Monday, May 14, 2012 at 9 a.m. to answer the charges.
1. On Monday, 24th October, 2011, at Express House, Independence Square South, Port of Spain, being the holder of a concession to broadcast issued by TATT did breach the said concession contrary to Section 65 (b) of the Telecommunications Act 47:31.
2. On Tuesday, 25th October, 2011, at Express House, Independence Square South, Port of Spain, being the holder of a Broadcasting Station licence did commit a breach of the said licence contrary to Section 65 (b) Chapter 47:31.
3. On Wednesday, 26th October, 2011 … being the holder of a Broadcasting Station licence did commit a breach of the said licence contrary to Section 65 (b) Chapter 47:31.
4.On Wednesday, 26th October, 2011 did broadcast certain video content in breach of Section 32(2) Chapter 11:28.
5. On Tuesday, 25th October, 2011 … did broadcast video content on national television in relation to an offence of rape involving a female which led to members of the public identifying the said female contrary to Section 32 (2) Chapter 11:28.
6. On Monday, 24th October, 2011, at Express House, Independence Square South, Port of Spain, in the county of St George West did broadcast certain video content on national television in relation to an offence of rape involving a female which led to members of the public identifying the said female as the complainant contrary to Section 32 (2) Chapter 11:28.
7. On Monday, 24th October, 2011, in the county of St George West being a holder of a Broadcast Station licence issued by the Telecommunication Authority of Trinidad and Tobago did commit a material breach of the said Broadcast Station licence by broadcasting certain video content on national television namely, CCN Television Ltd, in relation to an offence of rape involving a female which led members of the public to identify the said female as the complainant in the matter contrary to Section 65(b) of the Telecommunications Act, Chapter 47:31.
8. On Wednesday, 26th October, 2011, at Express House, Independence Square South, in the county of St George West being a holder of a Broadcast Station licence issued by the Telecommunication Authority of Trinidad and Tobago did commit a material breach of the said concession by broadcasting certain video content on national television namely CCN Television Ltd in relation to an offence of rape involving a female which led members of the public to identify the said female as the complainant in the matter contrary to Section 65(b) of the Telecommunications Act, Chapter 47:31.
9. On Tuesday, 25th October, 2011… being the holder of a concession to broadcast issued by the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago did commit a material breach of the said concession by the broadcasting of certain video content on national television namely CCN Television Ltd in relation to an offence of rape involving a female which led members of the public to identify the said female as the complainant in the matter contrary to Section 65(b) of the Telecommunications Act, Chapter 47:31.
