The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) is encouraging persons to visit its Tax Sites or to utilize the ‘Drop Box’ facility to submit their Income, Property, Corporation and Capital Gains Tax Returns which are due on or before April 30.
Persons can therefore avoid the payment of a penalty for late submission of returns after the statutory date, the GRA said in a press release yesterday.
Meanwhile, a mobile Tax Site will be at the Linden Market Square today while sites will be set up at the canteen of the University of Guyana, Turkeyen and Republic Bank, Diamond, East Bank Demerara, on Friday. Tax Sites are also operational this week at N&S Mattai and City Mall until Friday.
Meanwhile, persons who choose to use the ‘Drop Box’ facility need not worry about obtaining proof of submission since ‘Lodgment Receipts’ would be issued via post, the GRA said.
Taxpayers need to take note, however, that the ‘Drop Boxes’ will only be available until Friday. This facility complements the temporary Tax Sites which were established by the agency at the beginning of April and continues until the end of the month.
Effective from Monday the GRA placed ‘Drop Boxes’ at the Value Added Tax Department 210 ‘E’ Albert and Charlotte Streets and at the Internal Revenue Department (GPO Building) Robb Street.
The ‘Drop Boxes’ will allow persons to submit tax returns at their own convenience during official working hours of the GRA.
