Former national footballer Collin Mickle who appeared yesterday in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court accused of stealing a Mercedes Benz worth $2 million was remanded by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine–Beharry.
The court heard that between April 17 – 20 at Norton Street, Werk-en-Rust, Mickle stole one Mercedes Benz car worth $2,000,000, property of Courtney Abel.
Prosecutor, Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey in reading the particulars of the case said that on the day in question Junior Craig who is Abel’s son-in-law was in possession of the car bearing licence plate PGG7960 and he parked the vehicle on the southern side of Norton Street and went away.
When he returned the car was gone. According to the facts when the police questioned Mickle he said that he had sold it to a man for $100,000.
Mickle in his defence said that he did not admit to selling anything. He said that he was accused of having knowledge of the car because it was parked outside of his yard. He further said that he was beaten by Craig who came into his house and took him to the police station.
Mickle has to appear in Court Three tomorrow.
