A man appeared yesterday in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court accused of using threatening language towards a woman, who is the wife of a prominent attorney.
Mahendra Moonsammy on April 21 in Barr Street, Kitty allegedly made use of threatening language towards Amanda Puran.
The court heard that the matter stems from a land dispute which is at present before the High Court.
Moonsammy was put on bail in the sum of $40,000 but after explaining the predicament he and his family will be faced with, the amount was slashed in half.
He told the court that lawyers are running from the case since the husband of the woman is attorney-at-law Vic Puran and his complaints at the police station are being ignored.
His next appearance in the matter is scheduled for May 2.
