MOHALI, India, CMC – West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard played virtually no role as his Mumbai Indians beat Kings XI Punjab by four-wickets in the Indian Premier League here yesterday.
His three overs of medium pace went for 27 runs as Kings XI, opting to bat first at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, tallied 168 for three from their 20 overs.
Australian David Hussey top-scored with an unbeaten 68 from 40 balls with four fours and four sixes.
In Mumbai’s turn at the crease, Pollard failed with three form seven balls but Rohit Sharma stroked an even fifty from 30 balls and Ambati Rayudu hit 34 not out off 17 balls to see the visitors home with a ball to spare.
With five required from the last over, Mumbai got just three runs from the four balls before Rayudu smashed a four off the penultimate ball of the game.
