Local accountants who are members of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) are to benefit from a one-day seminar on Friday May 4 that will address a range of issues relating to the practice of the profession.
A release issued by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Guyana (ICAG) says that the institute, in collaboration with the Caribbean office of the ACCA will host the Forensic Examination Seminar which will address fraud schemes and fraudulent financial transactions, financial investigations, forensic examination and identifying theft.
Clinical Associate Professor of the Florida International University (FIU) Dr Kenneth Henry FCCA will serve as presenter for the forum.
Forensic accounting, which involves the use of computer technology, employs sophisticated computer programmes to analyze financial evidence that would be legally valid in a court of law. In criminal cases, forensic accountants are often required to present evidence of theft, insurance fraud, money-laundering, embezzlement, stock market manipulations and other related transgressions.
