Anthony Bouchard, of Eagles Resources, pleaded guilty to twelve charges of tax evasion at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
According to charges, as read to Bouchard by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, the company failed to file corporate tax returns for the period April 30, 2006 to April 30 2011 and also failed to submit property tax returns for the same period. He accepted all the charges but also told the court that prior to the hearing, he had already submitted the corresponding returns.
The matter was stood down until the afternoon, when Bouchard was ordered to return with proof of his submissions. He did so but was still asked to pay a fine on each charge, amounted to $10,000 on each count. He was granted seven days to make the payment.
