Dear Editor,
On Friday, Shiv Chanderpaul playing for the West Indies against Australia joined a distinguished band of cricketers in attaining 10,000 runs in his Test career. Brian Lara and he are the only WI players on the list.
Tiger, as he is familiarly known, can be considered one of the most valued players for the WI.
He has an appetite for batting along with determination, and in most instances is the last man standing. His batting stance is not attractive as he moves across his wicket, but it is his contribution (runs) to the team that is important.
I wish to congratulate him for his hard work for which he has been rewarded in the annals of history with the very best of world class cricketers.
He has done us all proud.
Yours faithfully,
V O Patrick
