The body of a missing Guyanese woman and her stillborn baby were discovered in the bathtub of a Pennsylvania home, the Pocono Record reported on Tuesday.
Both bodies were found Saturday in the woman’s family’s vacation home in Middle Smithfield Township in eastern Pennsylvania. The dead woman was identified as 41-year-old Bibi Farrouq. She had been living in New York.
The report said that an autopsy revealed that the baby, whose body was found under Farrouq’s, was at least at seven months gestation.
The report said that the woman was dead for at least 10 days. A neighbour and relatives said she had been missing for about two weeks.
According to the report, Farrouq’s husband, Mohamed Farrouq, and his four children discovered the dead woman after they drove from their New York City apartment to the vacation home looking for her on Saturday afternoon.
Monroe County Coroner Bob Allen believes she likely died from a medical problem as a result of complications from her delivery, according to the Record.
“She had no injury to herself, and there were no signs of an abortion,” he said.
No foul play is suspected.
