Two sisters and another woman who appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday on assault and wounding charges were granted bail by Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton.
Sisters Cheryl and Karen Blair were charged with unlawfully wounding Candace Anderson on April 21.
The charge stated that they unlawfully and maliciously wounded Anderson on the said date at Regent and Wellington streets.
Anderson on the other hand was accused of unlawfully assaulting Karen Blair and unlawfully and maliciously wounding Cheryl Blair.
Attorney Oneka Archer-Caulder spoke in defence of the Blairs, stating that they are both mothers and reside in South Sophia. Cheryl she said is a waitress while Karen is a vendor.
The attorney stated that Cheryl was acting in her own defence on the day in question and her sister also ran to her defence.
Police Prosecutor Simone Payne did not object to bail. However the attorney representing the Blairs told the court that Anderson on the day after the incident passed by the homes of her clients with friends and issued threats and so she requested that the defendant be placed on a bond.
The magistrate stated that a bond is a penalty and proposed that they give an undertaking that they will have nothing to do with each other during the hearing into this matter and they all agreed

The Blairs were placed on $15,000 bail each while Anderson was granted bail in the sum of $25,000 for the two charges. The three defendants are to return to court on May 17.
