President of the Antilles Episcopal Conference (AEC) Archbishop Patrick Pinder has urged Catholics to challenge laws that discriminate against persons, including on the basis of sexual orientation.
In his address at the AEC Annual Plenary meeting which closed last week Pinder – the archbishop of Nassau, the Bahamas – highlighted “the Catholic Social Tradition which urges us to challenge laws which discriminate against persons for whatever reason including sexual orientation,” an AEC press release said.
The release said that the Archbishop also called on his fellow bishops to refine their skills at inviting people to educate themselves about the issues at stake “in a way that does not attract criticism, even ridicule and claims of being biased or divisive.”
