UG hosting nation-wide secondary school outreach

The University of Guyana (UG) said it will continue its outreach sessions to secondary schools in Region Two this week, where it will inform students about its programmes.

In a press release, UG spokesperson Paulette Paul said, “These visits are intended to inform about the university’s programmes, entry requirements, tuition costs, accommodation and the application process. They are held every two years, targeting students in the third and fourth forms.” The visits also provide an opportunity for students to get spot-on answers to questions and concerns about the institution. The schedule per region is as follows: regions One and Eight, June; Region Two, May 9, 10 and 11; Region Four, May 2, with sessions for Georgetown schools planned for May 21 to 31.

Sessions were also held on April 25, 26, 27 and 30 in Region Four and on April 23 and 24 in Region Five. Sessions were held in Region Six on Monday and Tuesday and will continue today and tomorrow. In Region Seven, sessions will be held on May 17 and 18 and in Region 10 on May 14, 15 and 16. Sessions for Region Three were hosted on May 2, 3 and 4.

Paul said that the outreach exercise “should also help to provide a clear and objective sense of the university’s identity and value from the perspective of those we seek to serve.” The UG team that will be conducting the exercise comprise Assistant Registrar Students Welfare Daniella King, Assistant Registrar Admis-sions Kashka St Hillaire, Industrial Liaison Officer Audwin Rutherford and Paul.
