Jamaica defends Digicel tax raid

(Jamaica Gleaner) The Ministry of Finance and Planning has broken its silence in a vigorous public debate over a tax raid on telecommunications firm Digicel late last week, claiming there appears to be “a concerted campaign to discredit the work of the Tax Administration of Jamaica (TAJ)”.

‘Lightning’ set to strike on June 1

Early this year, when they revealed the road accidents statistics for last year, the police had said that while there was a 5% increase in fatal accidents over the previous year, the number of deaths was the same; 115 people were killed on the roads in 2010 and another 115 were killed in 2011.
