Three men who allegedly stole a motorcar which was parked along Republic Road in New Amsterdam were charged with simple larceny after parts of the Toyota Carina were reportedly recovered at one of the defendants’ home at Chesney Village, Corentyne, over 13 miles away.
Waylan Jordon, 37, a taxi driver and father of three; Stephen Henry, 36, a fisherman; and Terry Henry, 30, all of the Corentyne, are alleged to have stolen the vehicle valued $1.1M, property of Elvis Cummings.
Police Inspector Jairam Ramlakhan, prosecuting in the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, said that the complainant on July 8, 2011 parked his motorcar along the New Amsterdam roadway, but on returning to retrieve it he discovered the vehicle missing.
Acting on information, the complainant accompanied by a police rank went to a house at Chesney Front where the stripped car with identifiable markings were discovered.
After questioning one of the defendants, ranks subsequently arrested the other two.
The defendants have denied the allegations and were placed on $100,000 bail each. The trio is expected to return before Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo on June 11.
