The Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation has expressed apologies for the delay today at the X-Ray Department.
It said in a statement that this was as a result of painting works which were done in the department over the past weekend. The fumes from the painting continued to linger in the department and it affected the patients and the staff, who couldn’t perform their duties efficiently, the hospital said.
The Occupational Safety and Health Departments of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation and the Ministry of Labour intervened immediately and employed remedial measures, the release said. At around 13:00h today, the problem was 80% resolved.
“The patients were understandably impatient and some voiced their views quite loudly. They were advised of the problem which was being faced. The manager of the X-Ray Department assisted personally and efforts were doubled to ease the back log of patients”, the hospital said.
