One half of a duo accused of an $8.6M store burglary was yesterday charged.
Bobby Moore was placed on $450,000 bail by Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton when he appeared before her at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on a break-and-enter and larceny charge. His co-accused, Winston Singh, was absent from the court.
Moore and Singh, the court heard, between May 4, 2012 and May 5, 2012, at Regent Road, broke and entered Celebrity Cellphones and stole 217 cellular phones and a quantity of phone accessories, 512 wristwatches, 17 digital photo frames, two gold scales, an mp3 box, 13 mp3 players, two laptops and two sunglasses, all valued at a total of $8,658,500.
The charge was indictable and Moore was not required to plead. His attorney, Lyndon Amsterdam, made an application for bail, explaining that Moore, a father of five, fully cooperated with police in the initial stages of the investigation.
He added that police had found no difficulty in apprehending him.
Police prosecutor Tracymay Gittens had no objections to bail but asked for it to be set at a substantial amount.
Upon that statement the magistrate granted the man bail in the mentioned sum and sent him for fixtures in court three.
