The Private Sector Com-mission (PSC) yesterday met with officials of Compete Caribbean, who are in Guyana to promote the assistance that the agency is offering to Caribbean businesses. The agency provides both direct assistance to firms and technical assistance to clusters within industries, the PSC said in a statement. Compete Caribbean, it explained, is a programme that provides technical grants and investment funding for private sector development across the Carib-bean. The programe seeks to improve competitiveness and economic growth through cooperation between private sector groups and government across the Caribbean. Compete Caribbean is funded by the Inter-American Bank (IDB), the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and the Depart-ment of Inter-national Development of the United Kingdom (DFID). “The Private Sector Commission is excited about the potential for growth of Guyanese firms and industries created by the program and urges all businesses which have the capacity for expansion to explore the assistance offered by Compete Caribbean,” the PSC added.
