Northern Rangers and Flamingo could earn a position in the Premier League after the completion of the Guyana Football Association (GFA) President’s Beer League, says GFA Vice-President Ivor Thompson.
The Vice-President also said that former premier teams such as Frtua Conquerors, Sunburst Camptown and the Army are in hot pursuit of premiership.
Thompson via telephone said that the absence of teams such as Pele, Western Tigers and Alpha United have nothing to do with the possibility of Northern Ranges and Flamingo moving up to the Premier League.
“Their level of play is of a high standard and the GFA through this tournament has given a lot of young teams the opportunity they did not have before to get into the Premier League.”
Meanwhile, GFA President Vernon Burnette said that he is satisfied with the progression of the tournament but there is room for improvement in every aspect of the tournament. “There is room for improvement in administrative, technical, tactical and level of play for clubs.”
The tournament continues tomorrow with three matches at the GFC Ground, Bourda – Houston Stars playing Flamingo, Northern Rangers engaging Beacons and Police tackling Riddim Squad.
