Ms Guyana Renaissance Pageant has returned after a two-year break. Come October 20, twelve mature, professional and intelligent women will be vying for the coveted crown of the pageant which has made a name for itself thanks to Negla Brandis, Executive Director.
The first activity would be the official launch and sashing ceremony next Sunday at the Umana Yana.
According to Negla, this will be the sixth staging of pageant. At the official launch which will take place at 4.30 pm sharp there will be a reception for the contestants during which they will be sashed.
Negla is very excited about the reviving of the pageant and is intends to ensure that it returns with a bang. For her the pageant has “gained the reputation of being one of quality and high standards”, catering to the professional, mature Guyanese woman 28 years and older. It further serves as a catalyst to reeducate the public about the creativity, cultural awareness, inner beauty and accomplishment of these women.
Among the Ms Renaissance 2012 team are Desiree Edghill, artistic director; Leslie Quallis, contestant liaison and Vivienne Daniel, choreographer and fitness programmer.
Excellence Dazzell is the last queen. She holds the 2009 crown.
