Members of the St Rose’s High School alumni yesterday donated over US$15,000 in computers, printers, television sets, backpacks and DVD players among other items to the school’s computer room.
In addition, US$4,960 from the United States alumni was donated to purchase lab stools for the computer lab and the industrial technology department as part of the annual giving back project to the school.
The items were donated from the Canadian and United States association of alumni and are expected to benefit students of the school to become more proficient with technology. The backpacks, which contained stationery, were handed out to ten students of the school who were selected by various teachers.
Speaking at the simple ceremony held at the school’s computer room, Tessa Ng-See-Quan, a representative from the alumni in Canada said that the donation is aimed at assisting St Rose’s to be the great school it used to be. She also said that another donation to the school is scheduled for the later part of this year.
Meanwhile, the United States representative Debra Billingy said they hoped the donation would assist staff and students of the school to improve their efficiency.
The donation from the former students association is part of the overall commitment of the past graduates to contribute to the upgrade and overall development of school activities.
Expressing gratitude, Principal of the school, Ercellen Cummings– Archibald mentioned the importance of the various items donated to the school.
